My story

Speech and drama from an early age

From the age of five, I remember a real fascination with the sounds and rhythm of words. This interest was further developed through elocution lessons throughout school, culminating in Grade 6 Speech & Drama from Trinity College, London. For many years, I competed in our local music and drama festival, reciting poetry and performing on stage.

A degree in audio storytelling

Later, attaining a degree in multi-media journalism helped foster a love of radio and, while production techniques have drastically changed since 'cutting and splicing', I greatly enjoyed the skill of editing together audio and the powerful emotion sound could convey.

BBC training and awards

For the next few years, I worked across several BBC and commercial stations, loving the ability to communicate real stories through radio. Opening the mic to deliver breaking news was always a thrill while carefully crafting audio packages with sound effects and multiple contributors honed my technical skills as radio went digital.I was fortunate enough to be part of Gillard and Arqiva award winning teams, and produced live coverage while at the BBC that went on to win a Sony award.

It was during my early years in radio that I began to freelance as a voice artist, mainly voicing literature, poetry and e-learning for a select few clients.

A move to marketing

A move across the fence to communications and marketing beckoned, predominantly in the public sector including the NHS. Working alongside marketing agencies gave another perspective on the production process. I also incorporated many of the skills already gained to produce 'in house' audio.

I continued to work in a freelance capacity as a voice artist, with a steadily growing list of valued clients.

Return to my roots

Ultimately, I have never felt more content than when telling stories. Creating audio was never far from my mind, and I continued to work and hone my voiceover skills with training from companies including Gravy for the Brain and industry experts.

The pandemic enabled me to reassess my career and, with growing demand from a burgeoning client list, I decided to invest in a professional home studio. I officially launched my limited company, dedicated to voice over and audio production, at the end of 2021.

Today, I connect with clients all over the world and I am incredibly lucky to work with some of the biggest global companies, such as Amazon, Netflix and Google. But I also love working with the smallest of businesses, helping to tell their stories and give them a voice.

Just over a year since fully launching my company, I have been nominated for a One Voice award alongside some of the most talented and established voices in the industry.

People often ask what I do for a living. And I couldn't be more proud to say that I am now a full-time, professional British voice over artist. To me, it's the best of ALL worlds!
